MPA Reveals Use of Donkey Hides in Cosmetic Creams


LAHORE: A resolution was submitted on Friday in Punjab Assembly, seeking ban on use of donkey hides in cosmetic creams, Samaa reported.

“It is opinion of the house that province-wide use of donkey meat in cosmetic creams should be banned immediately and such factories be closed and their owners be punished,” demanded the resolution submitted by MPA Naheed Naeem.


The Punjab Assembly resolution raises many questions over use of the animal hides for different purposes, including the makeup products.

The resolution comes a day after the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet banned export of donkey hides till a regulatory mechanism in this regard.

The ECC, which met here with Finance Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar in the chair, took the decision amid media reports that donkey meat was being sold in the market for human consumption.

The meeting asked the Ministry of National Food Security and Research to convey the decision to the provincial governments to ensure that a proper mechanism for disposal of remains of the donkeys was enforced as early as possible.

  • Don’t use too many fried foods in Aftar.
