Health Benefits of Eating Chillies Red

Health Benefits of Eating Red Chillies – Lal Mirch Khanay Kay Faiday

Note for Urdu Readers: Urdu main lal mirch k faiday parhnay kay liaye is page k end per jain.

Chillies have been used as a medicinal plant since pre-Colombian times. Today, chillies are one of the most widely used of all natural remedies. It is these reasons why the indigenous peoples of the Americas started to domesticate chillies all those years ago.

Chillies are excellent for your immune system because they are rich in both vitamin A (said to be the anti-infection vitamin) and vitamin C.

Chilli peppers bright red colour signals its high content of beta-carotene or pro-vitamin A. Vitamin A is essential for healthy mucous membranes, which line the nasal passages, lungs, intestinal tract and urinary tract and serve as the body’s first line of defence against invading pathogens. Just two teaspoons of red chilli peppers provide about 6% of the daily value for vitamin C and more than 10% of the daily value for vitamin A.

The US Department of Agriculture’s National Nutrient Database lists red capsicum as having 143.7mg of Vitamin C per 100g, while oranges contain only 45mg per 100g. Vitamin C is an anti-oxidant used by the body to soak up free radicals. Chillies also contain other anti-oxidants: lutein is found in red chillies, while alpha-carotene is found in yellow and orange chillies as well as capsicums.

Other vitamins found in chillies include the vitamin B group (mainly B6) and vitamin E. They are also high in potassium, magnesium and iron.

Eating chillies can help with the common cold as they clear congestion. Capsaicin’s peppery heat stimulates secretions that help clear mucus from your stuffed up nose or congested lungs, so try adding Fire Dragon Chilli Xtra Hot or Deadly to your lemon and garlic hot toddy!

Chillies are great for diabetics as when you digest a meal which has chilli in it, your body doesn’t need as much insulin to break down the food, as proved in a study published in July 2006 in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. Chillies reduce the amount of insulin the body needs to lower blood sugar levels after a meal by up to 60%. When chilli-containing meals are a regular part of the diet, insulin requirements drop even lower. Plus, chillis beneficial effects on insulin needs get even better as body mass index (BMI, a measure of obesity) increases. In overweight people, not only do chilli-containing meals significantly lower the amount of insulin required to lower blood sugar levels after a meal, but chilli-containing meals also result in a lower ratio of C-peptide/ insulin, an indication that the rate at which the liver is clearing insulin has increased. It is the capsaicin, the antioxidants, and the carotenoids in the chillies which are thought to help improve insulin regulation. And finally, chillies have been shown to influence glucose levels, which also impact on diabetes.

Chillies have a wonderful impact on cardiovascular functioning. Red chilli peppers, such as cayenne, have been shown to reduce blood cholesterol, triglyceride levels, and platelet aggregation, while increasing the body ability to dissolve fibrin, a substance integral to the formation of blood clots. Spicing your meals with chilli peppers may also protect the fats in your blood from damage by free radicals—a first step in the development of atherosclerosis. In cultures where hot pepper is used liberally, the populations have a much lower rate of heart attack, stroke and pulmonary embolism. In 2006, a pilot study in Tasmania found people may sleep better if they eat chillies regularly and as quality of sleep is important for cardiovascular health, this is also good news. It must also be great news to the millions of insomniacs and frequent flyers around the world!

Due possibly to the high level of anti-oxidants found in chillies, they have also been proven to help fight bowel cancer and prostate cancer. A study printed in “Cancer Research” magazine in March 2006 claims capsaicin pepper extract actually causes human prostate cancer cells to undergo cell death.

Chilli peppers have a bad and mistaken reputation for contributing to stomach ulcers. Not only do they not cause ulcers, they can help prevent them by killing bacteria you may have ingested, while stimulating the cells lining the stomach to secrete protective buffering juices.

Chillies can be used as natural pain killers, and topical capsaicin is now a recognized treatment option for osteoarthritis pain. Reviews of recent studies of pain management for diabetic neuropathy have also listed capsaicin as being helpful with the full-on pain associated with this condition. Similarly, pain associated with psoriasis has also been shown to be abated with regular capsaicin consumption. Pain relief occurs because the chilli stimulates the release of endorphins.

That burning sensation you get when you eat chillies is what is triggering the release of these famous feel-good chemical neurotransmitters in our brains. After the pain of the heat, you get what is generally described as an improved sense of well being. For a bigger endorphin rush, the hotter the chilli, the better! The chilli is often described as addictive, but this is not entirely true since no deep cravings develop and they do not induce a chemical dependency. However, over time your tolerance will increase and you need hotter and hotter chillies to get the same effect.

Chillies are also good for losing unwanted weight. All that heat you feel after eating hot chilli peppers takes energy and calories to produce. Even sweet red peppers have been found to contain substances that significantly increase thermogenesis (heat production) and oxygen consumption for more than 20 minutes after they are eaten.

Chilli peppers are also good for fighting inflammation as the capsaicin is a potent inhibitor of substance P, a neuropeptide associated with inflammatory processes.

Finally, cigarette smoke contains benzopyrene which destroys the vitamin A in the body. The vitamin A present in chilli reduces inflammation of lungs and emphysema caused due to cigarette smoking. So all smokers should get some Fire Dragon Xtra Hot or Deadly Chilli Sauce today. They’re packed with organically grown chillies all grown in Aotearoa blended with all local ingredients and they all have BITE!

Hormones Responsible For Weight Gain In Women

6 Hormones Responsible For Weight Gain In Women

Have you tried everything possible to lose weight but in vain? Why not get your hormones checked? Women are vulnerable to hormonal imbalance, food cravings and slow metabolism at all phases of their life. These may be related to pre-menstrual syndrome (PMS), pregnancy, menopause or day to day stress. Research has revealed that appetite, weight loss, metabolism and female hormones are intricately linked. Study of hormone mechanisms in women can help one manage their weight better with personalized diet plan and exercise routine!

Hormones For Weight Gain In Women:

Women are more vulnerable to hormonal imbalance than men. Hormones affect women of all ages and it has a great impact on their biological cycle and daily life as well. Some of the hormones responsible for weight gain in women are:

1. Thyroid Hormone:

Deficiency of thyroid is found, especially among women. Hypothyroidism is responsible for weight gain in women. The common symptoms include fatigue, cold intolerance, weight gain, dry skin and constipation. Weight gain is the result of decreased metabolic rate of the body.

2. Estrogen:

Estrogen is the female sex hormone. During menopause, the estrogen level drops, causing weight gain, especially around the gut. Fat cells are found to be another source of estrogen that converts calories into fats. This can also lead to obesity.

3. Progesterone:

During menopause, there is a decrease in the level of progesterone in the body. Decreased level of this hormone does not actually cause weight gain. This actually causes water retention and bloating in women. As such it makes your body feel fuller and heavier.

4. Testosterone:

Some women suffer from the hormonal disorder called Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). This increases the level of testosterone, which leads to weight gain, menstrual disorders, facial hair, acne and infertility. Testosterone is responsible for muscle mass in women. Due to decrease in the level of testosterone during menopause, there is decrease in the metabolic rate, which consequently results in weight gain.

5. Insulin:

The hormone insulin is produced by beta cells in the pancreas. Insulin is responsible for the regulation of fat and carbohydrates in the body. Insulin allows the body to use glucose. Insulin is also a causal agent for PCOS that leads to infertility. High insulin level in the blood contributes to weight gain.

6. Stress Hormone Or Cortisol:

Weight gain has another culprit, the stress hormone, cortisol. High level of cortisol leads to increased appetite and subsequent weight gain. Stress and lack of sleep are two causes of high cortisol level in the blood. Cushing’s syndrome is an extreme condition that drives cortisol production.

Weight Loss Tips – Mistakes which MUST Avoid

Avoid These Weight Loss Myths and Mistakes – Weight Loss Tips – Mistakes which MUST Avoid

Are you exercising or eating healthy but don’t have much to show for it? You might be in love with some common myths about exercising or making some mistakes. Take a look at this guide to avoid these weight loss myths and mistakes.

Avoid Temptation
We live in a world of temptations, and food is no exception. Sometimes we also get pressured from friends, colleagues and even family members to have that ghulab jaman or go out to eat a huge processed burger. However, we have to avoid these temptations.

Here are a few ways you can stay away from temptation:

  • Eat a high fat/high protein breakfast before you go to work. If you have a full belly, that samosa isn’t going to look as appetizing
  • Pack your lunch (healthily of course)
  • Keep a bag of nuts such as almonds, walnuts, or cashews with you at all times. It’s a much better snack option than what you’ll find in the canteen

You’ll have to explain to your friends or family why you are eating more health conscious, and if they don’t understand or except it, then just ignore them.

Stop Buying Product X or Going through Diet Y
What counts for building muscle includes determination, intensity, consistency and safety. If you think buying the most expensive formula, training uniform or machine is necessary for reaching your potential, you’re making a mistake. The supplements industry makes a lot of money. Despite this, research shows that most supplements literally do nothing to improve your health or well-being. In actuality, there are only a small number of supplements that are useful. Fish oil, vitamin D, and whey protein are the only three supplements that are recommend. If you have followed a fitness plan successfully for at least a month, consider those three options.

In addition, machines often compromise the intensity required for the body you desire. Instead, perform non-isolated functional dumbbell moves or barbell exercises like squats, bench presses and deadlifts. Also, diets added to training programs, especially when trying to build muscle, can be damaging. For example, the trending Paleo diet is a low-insulin diet, and insulin is required for building muscle.

Avoid Constant Treadmill Use
For all you chronic dieters and cardio enthusiasts that are trying to shed the fat, the right strength training program can boost your metabolism and help burn off more fat. Cardio does have benefits, including stress reduction, relief from depression, and increased life expectancy, but if you spend all your time on a treadmill or elliptical, you won’t be achieving anything. Lift weights at least twice per week, because resistance training increases your metabolic burn for much longer after a workout. In other words, weight lifting will help you burn calories for many hours after exercise, while cardio only burns calories during the act of exercise. By increasing lean muscle mass through lifting weights, you will increase your Basal metabolic rate, BMR. Activated contracting muscles are the body’s furnace. Excessive cardio and dieting can eat muscle tissue away.

Avoid Constant Exercise
Everyone wants more muscle and less fat, and conventional wisdom says that hours and hours of exercise will achieve those results. However, that can be far from the truth. Overkill is not only unnecessary, it can be counter-productive. You’ll get the best results with a strength training regimen, tailored to meet your needs which can be accomplished in three to four hours per week and only 20 minutes of cardio a day, especially if you use high intensity interval training. You can also choose to incorporate yoga for alternate exercise and variety.

For the Ladies Out There
Lift weights. Females who lift weights won’t look like men because they do not have the hormonal support to pile on a significant amount of muscle mass. Female lifters will however assume a shapelier figure. So ladies should incorporate light weight training into their regimen as well.

Don’t Get Impatient with the Process
Fat loss doesn’t happen at the rate your mind demands, but rather at the rate your body allows. Practice patience, because your success counts on it.

Weight Loss Home Remedies – Motapay Ka Desi Illaj

Note For URDU READERS: Urdu Main Weight Loss Tips is Page Kay End Per Di Gai Hain, Pls Page nechay karain

There is a different kind of way for losing weight lose like dieting, exercising and many others tips. Balanced diet along with an effective exercise can help reduce excess fat. Boosting your metabolism helps your burn excess fat stores. Here is an easy homemade tips that will help for losing your weight.

6 Home Remedies for Weight Loss

1. Cinnamon Tea

Blood sugar has a direct impact on your weight as it affects how hungry and how energetic you are (if you have energy you’re much more likely to exercise!) If your blood sugar is balanced you are less likely to have a disproportionally large appetite, and your body will be more apt to use fat (energy) rather than storing it. While debate about its effectiveness drags on, more and more preliminary studies are coming out showing that cinnamon can help manage blood sugar levels, so why not whip up a spicy cinnamon tea?

You will need…

-1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
-1 cinnamon stick
-8 ounces of fresh water

Place the cinnamon in a mug and cover with 8 ounces of boiling water. Steep for 15 minutes before straining. Drinking 1-2 times a day.

2. Green Tea & Ginger

Green tea has long been debated as a weight loss aid, and more research is needed to confirm or deny how well it works. While some studies have turned up nothing, others have identified three main components in green tea that could help manage weight-caffeine, catechins, and theanine. Caffeine is just an overall boost to your system, and speeds up a number of bodily processes, including metabolism related to weight (technically speaking, metabolism refers to any and all biological processes in a living organism needed to sustain life.)

Catechins are considered anti-oxidant flavonoids, and are superior in green tea rather than black tea due to a difference in processing (black tea is fermented.) While the mechanism is yet to be determined, in vitro and in vivo studies have shown that catechins can help lower the absorption of lipids (fats) via the intestinal track. Theanine is an amino acid in green tea that can encourage the release of dopamine, the chemical that makes you “happy” and relaxed. If you tend to eat due to stress, this may be useful. It also counters the caffeine so you don’t get all jittery. The ginger added to green tea will help improve digestion and add a little flavor-no sugar or milk in this tea!

You will need…

-1/2 inch of fresh ginger root, peeled and finely chopped OR ½ teaspoon ground ginger
-1 teaspoon of green tea
-8 ounces of fresh water
-Raw, organic honey (optional)

Place green tea and ginger in a strainer or sieve and cover with 8 ounces of boiling water. Steeping green tea for too long can leave it with a bitter taste, so don’t exceed 3-4 minutes. You can stir in a little raw honey if you really need to sweeten it, but avoid milk or sugar at all costs. Drink 1-2 cups daily on an empty stomach.

3. Chew Gum

Chewing gum is a great way to trick your brain (and your stomach) into thinking it’s getting more than it is. The flavor of the gum reduces appetite and curbs the urge to snack on something unhealthy, and also stimulates the flow of saliva, whose enzymes help break down starches and fats.

You will need…

-1 piece of natural sugar free gum

When you feel the need to start munching, pop in a piece of gum instead.

4. Have a Routine (and stick to it)

Having a routine is, in my opinion, in the top three most important things you can do to lose weight, right up there with exercise and diet. If you don’t stick to a routine, you won’t see results, and you’ll be discouraged. Several years ago I saw a personal trainer and, after paying a decent sum of money, I figured out that it was the routine of going to see her made the biggest difference. It’s probably the single hardest thing you’ll do when you try to lose weight, but once those habits become hardwired into your brain, things will only get easier.

5. Just Add Water

Staying hydrated is an important aspect of weight loss that people often brush off-you don’t want to gain water weight and feel bloated right? Either that or you hear that you should drink ice cold water to burn more calories. Not exactly. The idea that ice cold water burns more calories because your body tries to “warm it up” first may technically be true, but the effect is miniscule (like 8 calories miniscule.) Rather, you need to be hydrated for your body to run smoothly, and that includes burning fat. It flushes bad stuff through your system, and also helps curb appetite. And don’t fret about water weight-if you are staying hydrated, your body is less likely to retain water since it simply doesn’t have the need to-similar to how eating more can make weight loss easier, within reason. I should also say-DO NOT BUY INTO SPECIALTY WATERS! Get your vitamins through your diet or supplements. Those waters are not better for you-in fact some are so loaded with flavoring and what not they rival soda.

You will need…

-8 ounces of fresh water

Drink at least 8 cups of fresh water every day.

6. Get Enough Sleep

Our body is a cohesive unit, a complex system, not just individual parts. Everything has to be working harmoniously for things to be balanced and correct-like your weight. Studies have shown that even just a little bit of sleep deprivation over the short time frame of 4 nights results in increased insulin resistance, and essentially ages the metabolism 10-20 years in that time frame. The fat cells sensitivity to insulin dropped by 30% to levels usually seen in people who were obese or diabetic. By getting the right amount of sleep, you’re doing more than just resting your body-you’re ensuring that all systems are go, and that you have the best chance possible to succeed at losing weight.
